One person dead after fire at Liberty Collegiate Academy on Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Nashville Fire crews are investigating a fire at Liberty Collegiate Academy on Friday that has now left one person dead.

According to officials, a company was doing work inside when the fire happened. About 20 students were inside and are now being checked by medics at the scene.

One teacher and one student were transferred to the hospital as a result of the fire. The construction worker, who later died, was also transferred to the hospital.

NFD has not announced the cause of the fire.

Liberty Collegiate Academy is a charter school serving grades fifth through eighth. It's part of the RePublic Schools network.

We want to make our RePublic community aware of an incident at Liberty Collegiate Academy. A fire started on the top floor of the school due to a construction incident, causing everyone to Immediately evacuate the building.

The safety and well-being of our scholars and staff are our top priority, and we took immediate action to ensure everyone's safety. All of our scholars and staff members were able to leave the premises without any harm, and are safe and well.

We do regret to inform everyone that there was one fatality of a worker on the construction team. This individual was not connected to the school. As a school community, let us please continue to keep this family In our thoughts and prayers.
