Rather than a ribbon cutting, Nashville Electric Service officials held a "plug in" to celebrate the city's first community solar park.
During Wednesday's event they flipped the switch on the solar park in Madison, which includes man solar panels.
"The array - which consists of 17,020 panels across 8 acres - is gonna take light from the sun - convert that into electricity and we're gonna step it through our system - converting it from direct current to alternating current," said Tony Richman.
The park will bring clean, renewable energy to Nashville. The entire array will generate enough energy to power 210 homes every year for 20 years.
