NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Moxy Nashville Vanderbilt is not your typical hotel and you can tell that right when you walk through the front door.

“It’s definitely a cool space filled with vibes, a lot of energy," said Kadian Springs, general manager of the hotel.

The first thing you're greeted by in the hotel is a bar that doubles as the hotel's check-in, and games for guests.

“When you come to the Moxy - that’s one of the very unique and cool things - you check in at the bar, and your first drink is on us," Springs explained.

He added that they also have a unique atmosphere in the lobby with games like pool and shuffleboard that aren't just for guests of the hotel, but also locals.

“We want locals to feel like this is their living room, this is their hangout spot, you know?" he said.

But one of the most unique things about the new hotel is its location: Hillsboro Village.

The Moxy Nashville Vanderbilt is the first hotel in Hillsboro Village, and they're focusing on being a good neighbor and supporting the community, as they know in turn that the popularity of the neighborhood will help their business.

“Pancake Pantry has been a staple of this neighborhood for so many years, Biscuit Love, lots of new eateries," Springs said. “We are perfectly nested right in between Belmont and Vanderbilt; so it makes our location absolutely ideal.”

The hotel is even partnering with the Belcourt Theatre by offering $5 parking to those who are heading to the movies.

“We want their guests to feel like they can stop in, have a cocktail with us before heading to the movie, or head to the movie then come have a cocktail,” Springs said.

When it comes to actual accommodations, the hotel has plenty of hotel rooms as well as one and two-bedroom apartments upstairs and a gym, but they hope this hotel can be more than just a place to sleep: A place to experience Hillsboro Village and hang with friends.

The hotel is working on creating programming during the week and on the weekend to make the experience more special for guests as well as visitors.

“We have competitions where we open up our shuffleboard and invite people in, we have game night, trivia night," Springs said, adding that they also bring in DJs and musicians.

More information about the hotel can be found on their website.
