The River North development gained more traction this week after the Metro Council approved money to improve the infrastructure in and around the 120-acre development on the east bank of the Cumberland River.

River North was announced in early 2017 and showed the opportunity to develop the land north of Top Golf across the river from Germantown.

According to the development's website, "River North will usher in a new era of urban living, connectivity and commerce creating a dynamic epicenter on the Cumberland River."

Plans for the area include buildings up to 38 stories tall, which can include office space, residential housing, hotel space, shopping, dining, and many other options.

The development also has plans to create a pedestrian bridge to Germantown from the development, as well as a marina and plenty of green space.

On Tuesday, the Metro Council approved $20 million for road infrastructure in and around the River North development.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is gathered.
