NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — With the lease secured, Amazon is getting one step closer to opening up shop at the Nashville Yards development in downtown Nashville.
The company has already hired dozens of people to work at the new Operations Center of Excellence according to an Amazon spokesperson. In addition, there's more than a hundred jobs posted online. You can apply to work with Amazon here.
Amazon estimates the center will bring 5,000 jobs to the Nashville area when all is said and done. They're hiring for a wide range of positions including software engineers and executive assistants.
According to the website, the downtown Amazon project is expected to be a $230 million investment.
Millennials struggling to pay rent in Nashville are excited that the Amazon job portal is now accepting applications. The average salary at the center is $150,000.
"It can still be hard to find a job, even though there seems to be a lot in the city, to find one that pays enough to live here, because the prices are going up, it's tough," Aly Merki said.
Ivan Perez said he will definitely look into applying for a job.
"It’s going to add a good touch to the city, and especially if it’s something that like I’m really interested in, and it’s right here, why not?" Perez said.
In addition to the Amazon tower, a Grand Hyatt Hotel and AEG, a sports and entertainment production company, have committed to the Nashville Yards project. More information here.
