MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Officials in Murfreesboro are investigating a fire they said was intentionally set.
The incident happened late Thursday night at a previously burned home on Wilson Avenue.
When crews arrived, the house was fully involved. Officials said they were unable to enter the home, so they surrounded the building and sprayed water until the fire was knocked down.
Shift Commander Daryl Alexander said a neighbor claimed that there might be a homeless person inside, but no one was ever found.
A fire broke out at the same address in November 2014. Justin Tyler Romohr was arrested and charged with one count of arson in connection with that fire.
His trial date was scheduled for January 2016.
“At this time, we are unable to confirm or deny that these two fires are connected,” said Assistant Fire Marshal Michael Bartlett.
Anyone with information was asked to call the MFRD’s Fire Marshals’ Office at 615-849-2605 or Rutherford County Crime Stoppers at 615-893-STOP (7867).
