COOKEVILLE -- If you want a piece of NewsChannel 5 Investigates history, you'll be interested in an auction happening Saturday.
On the auction block: items from the "Living the Dream" investigation that made so much news back in 2012.
Living the Dream was that million-dollar house in rural Putnam County that Wendy Askins purchased using money from the Upper Cumberland Development District.
What was supposed to become a home for needy seniors became Askins' home.
Tomorrow, items from inside the house will be auctioned off to try to recoup some of the money that the agency lost.
Among the items: a specially-designed "Living the Dream" mirror, a wall-mounted fireplace that Askins bought for her own bedroom in the house, and furniture that Askins bought from herself and her family at top dollar, using agency funds.
Askins goes on trial in July on federal charges.
The house will be auctioned off next month.
