Thousands of Tennesseans who had probation under Providence Community Corrections (PCC) are entitled to settlement money.

PCC and Rutherford County settled a lawsuit alleging they "extorted" money from people on probation for $14.3 million.

PCC will pay $14 million, while Rutherford County will pay $300,000. This is being called a landmark ruling involving private, for-profit probation companies.
