NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro health department officials released a list of 49 sites, including six downtown bars, where COVID-19 clusters have been linked to more than 2,600 cases of the coronavirus.
NewsChannel 5 Investigates obtained the data in response to a public records request, following a now-retracted news report that attempted to downplay the role of Nashville bars in the pandemic.
The largest number of COVID-19 clusters, accounting for 944 cases, was attributed to long-term care facilities, followed by 557 cases traced to correctional facilities. Another 364 cases were traced to congregate living facilities and 302 to commercial-warehouse operations.
Construction sites made up 185 cases, followed by bars with 114 cases.
The bars linked to COVID-19 outbreaks and. the number of associated cases are:

- Tootsie's, 27
- Dogwood, 19
- Kid Rock's Big Ass Honky Tonk, 15
- Dawghouse Saloon, 14
- Winners, 10
Following federal health privacy guidelines, the health department did not release the list of locations with fewer than 10 cases to avoid inadvertently identifying potential patients.
Metro health officials note that the number of cases linked to Nashville bars is likely significantly higher because tourists often hit multiple hotspots during visits and symptoms are unlikely to develop until they have returned home, out of reach of contract tracers in Tennessee.
