NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Responding to the latest bizarre claim from Millersville assistant police chief Shawn Taylor, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said no TBI agents urinated in Taylor's bathtub during a search of his home last week.
During a series of interviews with far-right podcasters, Taylor has claimed — without evidence — that he returned to his home to find urine tracked throughout the residence.
"There is no truth to the accusation," TBI spokesperson Josh DeVine said Tuesday in an email to NewsChannel 5.
"There was a dog in the home our agents found in the bathtub while conducting their work. When the dog was found to have urinated, an agent took the dog outside to finish relieving itself."
In fact, NewsChannel 5's cameras captured video of a TBI agent walking Taylor's German Shepherd around the property during the search.
"To suggest our agents were anything less than professional in the lawful execution of this search warrant is patently untrue," Devine continued.
Taylor — whose bizarre conspiracy theories have been documented by NewsChannel 5 Investigates — has grown more strident in the telling of that story as he has shared it with multiple podcasters.
"I feel like as soon as that agent urinated in my bathtub and walked through the house, he was saying, 'Piss on America.' He was saying, 'Piss on We the People,'" Taylor said in his most recent interview.
Taylor also originally put out word to his podcast buddies that his home had been searched without a warrant, although he later backtracked on that claim.
