Prosecutors Say Investigation Continues

Former Davidson County General Sessions Judge Casey Moreland appeared in federal court for a pre-trial hearing.

Moreland watched on Thursday as Federal Judge Waverly Crenshaw delayed the start of his trial which had been set for June 27.

Moreland's defense attorney, Peter Strianse, asked whether federal prosecutors planned to file more changes against Moreland.

Prosecutors told Judge Crenshaw that the public corruption investigation was continuing.

They said it was too early to know if the investigation would result in more charges.

Judge Crenshaw scheduled another conference hearing for June 27 and asked that prosecutors give an estimate about how much longer the public corruption investigation would take and whether more changes were likely against Moreland.

Moreland's attorney said it was difficult to prepare for a trial if more charges and potentially another trial were coming in the future.
