Lego has been a popular holiday gift for decades, but as the years have passed, Lego sets have become more extravagant.
This holiday season, Lego has a number of sets to help recreate famous movie scenes. One thing all of the models have in common is an incredible level of detail.
- Back to the Future
Want your own DeLorean? While finding the same type of car that was used as a time machine could cost thousands, a Lego version of the automobile is $123.99 on Amazon. Let’s just say Lego nailed it as far as the design.
The DeLorean comes complete with a flux compactor and the “OUTATIME” license plate. There are even miniature versions of Dr. Emmett Brown and Marty McFly.
Putting together the DeLorean will take some time as it has 401 pieces. So you can think of it as putting together a puzzle.
- Star Wars
Looking for a bit more of a challenge? With the next installment of Star Wars about to hit theaters this holiday season, there is a replica Millennium Falcon available on Amazon. The 1329-piece set is currently available for $149.
Replicas of Han Solo and Chewbacca are included, as well as mini weapons and ammunition.
While the Millennium Falcon is the crown jewel for Star Wars collectors, there are plenty of other options available. Those include a replica of the X-Wing Fighter and Snowspeeder. These options are less expensive than the Millennium Falcon and a bit more affordable for families on a budget.
- Ghostbusters
Who you going to call? This model Ecto-1 mobile comes complete with replicas of the characters from the movie, sporting their ghost-busting equipment. The set is $49.99, and has 508 pieces.
- Jurassic Park
The Jurassic World Rapture Rampage is a good option for younger kids. This set is recommended for children aged 6 to 12. This 324-piece set has a vet van, Owen’s motorbike and a tranquilizer gun.
- Lord of the Rings
Looking for the most elaborate Lego set? The Lord of the Rings’ Tower of Orthanc building set is at the top of the list. This set, recommended for adults and teenagers only, comes with 2,359 pieces.
The tower is detailed inside and out with six complete floors. This tower weighs 7 pounds.
While this set might be a bit much for most Lego buyers, there are plenty of Lord of the Rings sets available through Amazon.
