NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A state of the art facility will open at the Nashville zoo to care for its animals.

The Nashville Zoo opened the HCA Health Care Veterinary Center Friday morning.

The 23,000 square foot facility gives visitors a first-hand look at how the animals are cared for. It has an outdoor viewing area that can hold 200 visitors and gives guests a behind-the-scenes look.

People gathered Friday morning for their first look at the process.

Zookeepers are glad the facility is up and running since the zoo is growing right along with our city. The Nashville Zoo hopes to double its animal collection over the next eight years.
