Nashville woman killed while trying to help crash victim on I-40

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Nashville woman was killed in a crash while trying to help a driver on Interstate 40 in Knoxville.

According to WVLT News, Ashely Moore, 38, stopped on I-40 East to help 23-year-old Sarah Kasunic who had crashed on the road. Both women were out of their vehicles when they were hit by a third vehicle traveling on I-40.

Police say Moore was pronounced dead at the scene and Kasunic was transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

Moore's husband, Max Moore, said Ashley was an amazing person who was always helping people, her step daughter said the same.

"There’s so much bad in the world, you know, and she just made it all a little brighter.She uprooted her whole life to come to North Carolina to stay with me and help me with my babies because I just had my daughter in January," said Jennifer Cole.

“She was a wonderful wife mother n grandma or (GAM)," Moore said.

The driver and passenger of the third vehicle were not injured in the crash.

Moore family is asking those who want to help to make donation in Ashley's name at St. Jude's because she loved babies.
