Summertime means summer camps, but for the parents of children with special needs, finding a camp isn't always easy. Now, there's The Project in Nashville.
It's part dance camp, part community outreach and part fun.
Lauren Beasley is the founder of The Project. She's a life-long dancer with a heart for teaching.
Beasley says starting a special needs dance camp has been on her mind for awhile.
"When I was a teenager I remember thinking 'Why isn't there a dance studio for people like this. Why can't they have that same experience," she said.
Together with special educator Megan Jayroe they launched the idea online.
"This is our first camp. My goal was to have 10 campers signed up. I ended up getting 13," she said.
This camp will continue through the June 29. For more information click here.
