The Nashville Fire Department has celebrated the promotion of 19 new fire chiefs.

Mayor Megan Barry joined fire officials at the Main Library Auditorium Tuesday morning as the department announced the promotions.

Those promoted were six assistant chiefs, who were responsible for running the day-to-day operations of Fire and EMS responses as well as administrative duties in the department, and 13 District Chiefs, who will be in charge of field operations in the one of the six Nashville districts that they are assigned to.

Chief Rick White expressed his confidence in everyone in the group.

All 19 have already begun working in their new roles.
