NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A 12-year-old boy, who was critically hurt in a hit-and-run more than a month ago, has been released from a rehabilitation facility in Atlanta.

Jay Fizer suffered a traumatic brain injury on March 8. He was riding his bike along Richmond Hills Drive in Madison when someone hit him and left the scene.

He was placed in a medically-induced coma to ease the swelling on his brain. He progressed to a wheelchair and has now learned how to walk and talk again.

He'll remain in outpatient rehabilitation for the next six weeks. His family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for his medical expenses.

The suspect in the case, Devonta Hall, was arrested about three weeks later on multiple charges.
