NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Downtown Nashville employees and musicians are holding a rally to safely reopen downtown businesses.

They want to go back to work and say they will pledge to be ambassadors for health and safety in the Broadway area of Nashville.

Bars are currently under strict restrictions in order to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Nashville. They have been ordered to remain closed through mid-August but, the group said they want to operate under the same restrictions as restaurants in town. All other businesses that sell alcohol, like restaurants, must close in-person services and to-go alcohol services at 10 p.m. every night.

Metro Councilman Steve Glover spoke to the group of protesters saying he would fight for them.

"I will not go away. I will fight this fight with you," said Glover.
