A motorcycle crash shut down a busy intersection for hours early Saturday morning.

The motorcycle collided with a truck in Hermitage around 1:15 a.m. at the intersection of Lebanon Pike and Jacksonian Drive near the U.S. Post Office.

Officers on the scene said one of the drivers ran a red light and crashed into the other but it wasn't immediately clear which. The motorcyclist was reported to be seriously injured.

Police believe the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The victim's identity was not immediately released. The driver of the truck reportedly remained on scene and was cooperating with police.
