Mother and friend charged in 2019 death of toddler

JACKSON, Tenn. (WTVF) — A mother and man were arrested and charged in the 2019 death of a toddler in Jackson County.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Fourteen-month-old Reeves Thomas was transported from her Jackson County home to a Nashville hospital after suffering multiple injuries. She died days later.

As the TBI investigated they Tessa Thomas, the girl's mother, and her friend Zach Dale as the people responsible for the child's injuries.

On Monday, the Jackson County Grand Jury returned indictments, charging Dale with one count of Aggravated Child Abuse, one count of Aggravated Child Neglect, and one count of Felony Murder, and Tessa Thomas with one count of Aggravated Child Neglect.

TBI Agents arrested Dale and Thomas on Tuesday. They were booked into the Jackson County Jail. Dale is being held without bond. The bond for Thomas is $100,000.
