NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — For the Metro Nashville Police Department, it’s all hands on deck today as Belmont University hosts the final presidential debate tonight.

Some officers are stationed on the college campus, while others are helping with motorcades. More than 700 officers were picked to work security for tonight’s presidential debate.

The event is not open to the public, and because of COVID-19, no one is allowed to get very close to the debate hall.

Multiple officers will be manning all gates. There are two motorcades scheduled to happen today for each candidate.

“Quite frankly, everyone who is involved is excited and we think we are ready for this event,” said Interim police chief John Drake.

Police will also be on the lookout for drones. The FAA has issued a Temporary Flight Restriction for our area all day. Police say violations will be taken seriously.
