MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WTVF) — More than 1,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses were thrown away Friday after expiring in Shelby County.
Details of how and why the vaccines were allowed to expire were not released. The Tennessee Department of Health said officials will release more information Tuesday during its press briefing.
Officials said the Governor's Unified-Command Group immediately deployed state health personnel to review handling procedures, assess the Shelby County Health Department's inventory of vaccines and give support.
