Metro Nashville Public Schools has been named in a multimillion-dollar federal lawsuit that alleges civil rights violations regarding a young female student.

The Title IX violations reportedly involved the alleged videotaping of sexual acts on school property. The family recently filed a lawsuit against Metro government and MNPS for $3 million.

The lawsuit cites an alleged incident at Hunters Lane High School involving a 15-year-old female victim. The claim stated she was part of unwelcome sexual activity in an unlocked, empty classroom with another student.

The alleged incident was recorded without her knowledge by a third student and then posted on the Internet. It's a practice students refer to as "exposing."

Metro Nashville Police officials opened a criminal investigation into the matter.

The lawsuit alleges that school administrators never conducted an independent investigation as required by federal law, failed to adequately discipline students and the victim was subject to sexual harassment and cyberbullying.

As a result, she left Hunters Lane and will be home-schooled this year.

Metro officials have yet to respond to the allegations.
