NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A veteran and his wife whose downtown business was destroyed by the Christmas bombing were reunited with a personal heirloom during Metro police's search efforts.

Sandy Lee, co-owner of Simply the Best $10 Boutique on Second Avenue, had told the Urban Search and Rescue team of some family items that had been lost in the explosion. One of those was an American flag significant to their family because of her husband Geoffrey's service in the Army. The flag had been a staple of their store since its opening 10 years ago.

Search teams found the flag underneath the rubble of the boutique. They salvaged and framed it, then presented the flag to the Lees on Saturday.

MNPD says this was an expression of gratitude for Mr. Lee's service and "a small gesture to bring them hope during these trying times."
