NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Metro Nashville Police Department and West End Synagogue took extra precautions to continue its Passover tradition on Wednesday amid the coronavirus pandemic.
This marked the 26th consecutive year the tradition has taken place.
Rabbi Joshua Kullock and MNPD Chief Steve Anderson wore masks and practiced social distancing as Chief Anderson ceremoniously purchased the congregation's leavened products.
During Passover, Jews are prohibited from owning food items like bread, cereals and beer, but a rabbi has the power to sell the products to a non-Jew until the holiday has ended.
Next week, Rabbi Kullock will buy back the products from Chief Anderson.
