NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Nashville Police officials say they will be handing out advisories to spread the word about the city's mask mandate.

Officers will give a printed advisory to anyone they encounter who is not wearing a mask.

Officials said in a press release that officers were instructed to "educate and warn citizens concerning the requirement until further notice."

The order states those who violate it "shall be subject to civil and criminal penalties, including punishment as a Class C Misdemeanor" starting July 3.
