NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Criminal warrants have been filed against two men in connection with a large Nashville house party earlier this month.
Mayor John Cooper says Metro police and the district attorney’s office filed criminal warrants in the case on Wednesday.
Both 40-year-old Christopher Eubanks and 36-year-old Jeffrey Mathews face three separate counts, charging them with violating health orders by hosting a gathering in excess of 25 people, not requiring social distancing and not requiring facial coverings. All three are Class-A misdemeanors.
Under a Class-A misdemeanor, they could face a maximum of 11 months and 29 days in jail, with fines up to $2,500.
Matthews surrendered to police and was released early Wednesday morning. Police said Eubanks is out of town but is expected to surrender when he returns to Nashville.
The party was held on Aug. 1 as a promotional event for The Fashion House. Hundreds of people showed up for photo shoots and to even get tattoos. Metro Codes later posted a "Stop Use Order" on the property for "illegally operating a commercial business in a residential district."
