NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Three Metro council members have called for Metro Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson to resign after police rescinded warrants against two protesters.
On Thursday, Metro police issued warrants for Justin Bautista-Jones and Janeisha Harris in connection with Saturday’s protest, but later recalled those warrants after reviewing additional information from the event.
Jones and Harris are both known for their activism in the Nashville area.
In response, council member Freddie O'Connell tweeted “We have reached the point of absurdity. I spoke to [Mayor John Cooper] this afternoon and encouraged him to request the resignation of Chief Anderson.”
