Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota spent part of his Friday at Habitat for Humanity ribbon cutting.
The family that received the home was forced into exile after war broke out in their village in Sudan.
Mariota said events like the ribbon cutting weren’t about his celebrity.
“It's not an obligation at all. It's something that we want to do and it's something that my family has taught me since I was a kid and just doing events like this my entire life. So I'm continuing the tradition of my family and it's important to give back,” Mariota said.
The family said they're excited to plant veggies in their garden and possibly get a cat.
