NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — It's one of the busiest travel weeks of the year and state troopers are beefing up patrols on Tennessee's roads.

As you make your travel plans, a new map can show you when you need to pay extra attention behind the wheel.

You can track your holiday travel routes on the state's map that tracks interstate crash hot spots -- where you're most likely to get into an accident.

To combat the risk -- state troopers say they'll be out, specifically targeting I-40 on Wednesday and Thursday.

"We're going to be out in full force to ensure everyone has an opportunity to arrive at their destination safely," said Col. Dereck Stewart with the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Troopers admit many drivers are still distracted, not following the new hands-free law.

"We would hope so, but the data would really suggest otherwise, distracted driving fatalities and injuury crashes resulting from people being distracted are still very high," Stewart said.
