NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The world will be watching what happens on a stage right here in Nashville — as Belmont University hosts the final Presidential debate of the 2020 election season, and many safety protocols are in place because of COVID-19.

Everyone covering the event, attending the event or taking part in the event has to test negative for COVID-19 this week. There are also temperature checks for anyone entering the debate area which includes much of the campus.

Last week, the Nashville Public Health Department addressed the recent increase in cases, saying the department has had several meetings and walkthroughs at the university and still "feel confident that the protocols will ensure safety."

There will be a much smaller audience inside the debate hall, with social distancing in place and masks required for all attendees and audience members.

As for the candidates, we’re told they will even have their own separate HVAC system near them so that they won’t be breathing each other's air. We were able to get some shots of the two vents above the main stage during a tour last week. Both will likely be hidden by the stage itself.
