NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police say a man was stabbed to death after he pulled a knife on another man in Nashville.

The incident happened just after 7 a.m. Monday near a Mapco Mart near the intersection of Thompson Lane and Murfreesboro Pike.

Police say 43-year-old Leonard McKnight Jr. punched and robbed a man of his wallet with a knife in the side parking lot of the mart. But according to witnesses, the robbery victim went after McKnight Jr. disarming him and stabbed McKnight multiple times with his own knife. The man also retrieved his wallet and walked away from the scene.

McKnight was found on the curb outside the gas station.

Officials say the person who stabbed McKnight appeared to be in his 20s and wore a black jacket, khaki pants and brown shoes. His black hair is long on the top and short on the sides.

Anyone who may recognizing the man who killed McKnight or knows where he could be was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
