NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police say a man died after an altercation at a Madison gas station led to a shooting.
Metro police said the call came in around 1:30 a.m. Friday at a gas station on Gallatin Pike South.
Witnesses told police that the victim had been in a verbal altercation with a man, who is the husband of the store clerk.
Police initially said the shooting appeared to be a case of self-defense, but later released more information, saying there are conflicting statements as to whether the victim either pulled up his shirt to reveal a handgun or if he pointed a handgun at the suspect. According to police, the suspect fired 22 times into the victim’s car, hitting him at least five times.
The victim was taken to Skyline hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.
Police have not released any identities in the case.
