Man arrested, admits to putting camera in gym bathroom

CARTHAGE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Smith County Sheriff's deputies arrested Andrew Wayne Halford after he admitted to placing a camera in the bathroom of Smith County Elite Cheerleading and Athletics.

According to the Smith County affidavit, he also admitted to taking the camera to Premier Athletics in Franklin.

Halford was working for Elite Cheerleading and Athletics when he reportedly called the owners to confess that he had placed a GoPro camera in a backpack that videoed women changing clothes in the bathroom. A. juvenile girl was one of the victims in Oct. 2020. She was being recorded while changing and can be seen on the video nude.

Halford told investigators that he took the video home and to Premier Athletics in Franklin, according to the affidavit. He was charged with unlawful photographing a minor and especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. Franklin Police officials have not yet released information on charges against Halford
