A South Nashville family has been cleaning up after an early morning break-in that resulted in thousands of dollars worth of damage.

"There's glass everywhere," said Parsa Zandieh whose family owns BlueCar, a used car dealership along Nolensville Pike. "We'll file an insurance claim, but we'll still have to pay for some of it."

Surveillance video showed the thief using a flower vase to shatter the glass front door around 5:20 a.m. Sunday. Then, the man rummaged through drawers at the front desk before walking into an office.

He found the keys to a 2008 Nissan Titan.

"He walked right up to the car and drove off," Zandieh said. "A security guard next door was walking by, and he saw the car come out of here."

That security guard called police, who tracked down the car on the Interstate 65 South ramp at Harding Place.

A stranger saw the man bloody and confused and also called police.

"The car is totaled," Zandieh said. "There's nothing we can do with it now."

The suspect was receiving treatment at the hospital. He will be charged once he's released from the hospital.
