The Tennessee Titans released the 2018 schedule, which includes three prime time games and a game against the Chargers in London.
For starters, a team that has historically been overlooked by national media landed three primetime games. The Titans will play Monday Night Football contests at Dallas Nov. 5th and at Houston Nov. 26th. They will also host the Jaguars in a Thursday night game Dec. 6th.
Additionally, the Titans will venture abroad for the first time in team history, playing in London’s Wembley Stadium Oct. 21st against the Chargers. It’s one of three NFL games to be played in London once again this season.
The Titans will also host both Super Bowl teams from last season, welcoming the reigning champion Eagles to town in week four. They will host the Patriots in week 10.
Perhaps most importantly, Tennessee will play four of its final five regular season games at home. The Titans will host the Jets Dec. 2nd and Jaguars Dec. 6th before visiting the Giants Dec. 16th. They finish the regular season with home games against the Redskins Dec. 22nd or 23rd and Colts Dec. 30th. Those home game could be critical in a late season push for a AFC South division title or a playoff berth.
All in all, I believe the Titans schedule is very favorable for first year head coach Mike Vrabel. The most difficult games are at home and the closing stretch features four home games.
It is dangerous to compare a new schedule when rosters aren’t even close to being finalized to how teams performed last season, but while the Titans have a more difficult schedule in terms of opponents’ records in 2017, the way the schedule falls is fortuitous.
