Tennessee Takes In Hurricane Harvey Shelter Animals

Posted
and last updated

As the wrath of Hurricane Harvey has continued to devastate parts of Texas, nearly 150 dogs and cats from the storm torn region have now arrived in Tennessee as officials work to get them into new homes.

Over the course of Labor Day weekend, the dogs and cats were brought to a shelter in Lebanon. The animals were being looked after by volunteers and veterinarians.

Most came from shelters in Texas that officials were trying to empty out in anticipation of an influx of stray dogs and cats needing to be rescued following the devastating flooding.

Dozens of volunteers from the Animal Rescue Corps will look after the animals until they can be placed in new shelters.
