State, Nashville Plan Hanukkah Celebrations

Posted

Hanukkah has officially gotten underway. The eight day Jewish festival began at sun-down Sunday.

The State has planned to celebrate the holiday this coming Wednesday with a lighting of the Menorah.

Governor Bill Haslam has been set to host the public event, which will include live music and snacks at the corner of Charlotte and Sixth Avenue.

Festivities have been scheduled to get underway at 4:45 p.m.

The city of Nashville has also been set to celebrate Hanukah this week.

Mayor Megan Barry will join local rabbis for the city's Menorah lighting Monday.

That event has been set at Public Square Park along 3rd Avenue North at 4:30 p.m.

There will be music and a reading. This year marked the 12th year of the menorah lighting with the Mayor of Nashville.
