A rollover crash on Interstate 24 caused a fuel spill which closed a portion of the roadway.
The incident happened just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 between mile markers 61 and 62, near Old Hickory Boulevard/Highway 171.
Authorities said the crash only involved minor injuries, but it did create a fuel spill. At least two tractor trailers were involved.
Crews were on the scene multiple hours to clean up the spill. Those with the Tennessee Department of Transportation applied a temporary absorbent as crews responded.
Eastbound traffic was down to one lane for several hours before another lane opened up. As of 2:30 p.m. traffic in that area was still backed up.
Westbound drivers were not affected.
Officials estimated the roadway would be cleared by 5 p.m.
