A Williamson County man has been charged after allegedly pulling a gun on a couple during a road rage incident on Interstate 65.

Officials with Franklin Police said the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday on I-65 near Cool Springs Boulevard.

According to investigators, 19-year-old Alex Oneal began tailgating a couple from Columbia and then passed them before slamming on his brakes.

Both vehicles stopped on the interstate.

Oneal then allegedly threw an ashtray at the alleged victim’s vehicle and sped away.

They followed the suspect and called police.

Authorities said Oneal used the right shoulder of I-65 to drive parallel to the victims at interstate speeds.

At that point, they claimed Oneal racked the slide of his semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at them while speeds reportedly reached 100 mph.

Oneal was later found in his pickup truck behind a Sonic on Murfreesboro Road shortly after 10 p.m. Police said he was in possession of a gun when officers found him.

He was charged with aggravated assault and was released on a $3,000 bond.
