Neighbors Oppose Williamson Co. Development Plan

A group of neighbors in Williamson County has been trying to stop more than a thousand homes from being built nearby.

Those with the group called “Citizens for Old Natchez Trace” said 1400 new homes slated to be built down the road will strain county services and jam the nearby roads with traffic.

Organizers also said the development will ruin the atmosphere of the rural part of the county.

“The town and country lifestyle, which is what Williamson County markets as its economic development engine, will start to choke,” said Laura Turner with Citizens for Old Natchez Trace.

The developer of the area called Stephens Valley has said he has an eye toward preservation, and he said it's important to make sure the area develops properly.
