The father accused of taking his children and leading police on a chase during rush hour traffic has been booked on several charges.

According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, 39-year-old Aubrey Dasilva is facing 11 charges, including child neglect, vandalism, reckless endangerment, strangulation, and evading arrest.

Police said the ordeal began Tuesday morning when Dasilva got into a dispute with the mother of his kids on Millerwood and Purnell Drive.

He's accused of strangling her, beating some of the residents and his own 8-month and 4-year-old kids before forcing the two into his SUV.

Dasilva shares custody of the kids but it got dangerous when he allegedly drove into a parked car and caused it to smash into the house.

Police had a brief standoff with him before he sped away.

Investigators said he was driving so fast and so recklessly with his young kids in the back seat during morning traffic that police terminated the chase.

It wasn't long until officers found him hiding at his mom's house just four miles away.

The damage to the home was estimated to be about $25,000.

The toddler and infant were returned to their mom.

Dasilva was not eligible for bond at this time.
