La Vergne HS Grad Killed In Orlando Shooting

One of the victims killed in a mass shooting inside an Orlando nightclub was a graduate of La Vergne High School.

According to officials with Rutherford County Schools, Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo graduated from La Vergne High School in May 2015. 

He was among the 49 people killed when a gunman opened fire at the Pulse Nightclub early Sunday morning. Fifty-three more people were injured, many of them with life-threatening injuries.

Ocasio-Capo was 20-years-old. 

A GoFundMe has been set up to help his family with funeral costs.

La Vergne Mayor Dennis Waldron released the following statement: 

“We are shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo of La Vergne. Our hearts mourn with the families of all the victims as well as the community of Orlando. La Vergne U.S. flags are being flown at half staff until sunset on June 16th in memory of the victims.”
