As the grills were firing up all across Middle Tennessee in preparation for a sunny Memorial Day, hundreds took time this weekend to honor our nation's fallen service members.
They visited the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall that's been standing at the Nashville National Cemetery for the past few days.
Many people there were searching for the names of family members or friends who gave the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam war.
Those there said it's important to take the time to honor our nation's fallen soldiers.
One man NewsChannel 5 spoke with found the name of an old war buddy and remembered the attack that claimed his life.
"We started getting rocketed with 122's coming over the hills from the north. He got caught in the open with no place to hide," said Dennis Hovind, who visited the memorial.
Those who wish to honor the fallen can visit the wall through 3 p.m. on Memorial Day.
