An overnight fire has shut down a local restaurant.
Officials said the fire happened at the Outback Steakhouse in Madison on Gallatin Pike North around 3:50 a.m. Wednesday.
According to reports, the flames started in the back of the kitchen. Police in the area saw smoke and called in the fire department.
An appliance in the kitchen was likely the cause of the fire. Authorities said the flames spread from the kitchen into the ceiling.
The kitchen manager said the cause was likely the ice machine, which was broken Tuesday and had been slated for repairs.
The business suffered extensive damage and has been shut down. Officials said it may be closed for up to a month.
Authorities said they do not believe the fire was suspicious. No injuries were reported.
