A family and their two pets were able to make it out of their South Nashville home after an early-morning fire.
The incident was reported after 3 a.m. Friday on Tobylynn Drive, located not far from Old Hickory Boulevard.
Family members told NewsChannel 5 they awoke to the sound of their smoke alarms going off and were able to get out.
The family’s cat had initially been reported missing but firefighters later found the pet alive inside the home. Their dog also survived the blaze.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. The family suspects the blaze may have originated from the back of the home.
Investigators remained on the scene for most of the morning.
