Driver Pinned, Injured In Springfield Crash

A crash involving two vehicles in Springfield sent a driver to the hospital.

The wreck happened Wednesday around 6:40 p.m. on Mt. Zion Road at the intersection of Thompson Road.

Authorities said a Mini Cooper and a mid-sized pickup truck collided at that intersection. The truck then left the roadway and hit a tree. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.

Crews responded to the scene where the driver of the truck was pinned inside his vehicle.

Those from the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department and the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department were called in to help get the driver out.

Once he was freed, he was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. There was no word on his condition.

Authorities said the driver of the Mini Cooper was not injured in the crash.
