A deputy for the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office was hurt overnight in a weather-related crash.
The incident happened Monday night on Highway 12 in Ashland City.
Officials said Deputy Tyler Haley’s patrol car hydroplaned and crashed into a wooded area before ending up in a creek.
Haley was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released.
Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol were brought in to investigate the crash.
Authorities said each year between a third and half of all law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty die in or near their vehicles.
