In honor of Black History month, Tennessee State University continued its event series by having a question and answer session with a history writer.

On Saturday, author Jesse Holland introduced his book called “The Invisibles: The Untold Story of African-American Slaves in the White House.”

The book tells the story of the enslaved residents who built and lived in the White House.

Holland has traveled the country speaking about the book that took seven years to write.

"It presents a different part of history than what most people know about the White House, and it also helps us realize that all of us in America have a stake in our government, appreciate the White House because all of us have a connection there,” Holland said.

Holland highlighted stories about Andrew Jackson and his slaves.

The final Black History Event will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 25 at the Hermitage Church starting at 11 a.m.
