A 78-year-old Hendersonville man who was the victim of a road rage incident has passed away.

"Bobby" Dillard was driving to Nashville around 7:15 a.m. on February 19 when police believe he may have been involved in a minor crash with another driver who has been identified as Mark Scarborough.

Police said when the two men reached the intersection of North Anderson Lane, Scarborough got out of his car, pulled open the driver's side door of Bobby Dillard's car, and what happened next was unclear.

Doctors though believed the 78-year-old was so scared that it caused his blood pressure to rise dangerously fast.

"He had a massive, stroke, they said it's one of the worst ones they've seen. It's just horrible. It's just horrible," his son Steve Dillard said on Monday.

Police confirmed Wednesday Dillard had passed away.

Authorities added anyone with information has been urged to call the Hendersonville Crime Stoppers at 615-573-5400.
